We are enjoying sunny days in Georgia (well, until tomorrow) and the sunshine has done this family good! My productivity has a direct correlation with Vitamin D- I am so much happier and motivated when there is light coming in my windows, especially with kids. Before kids I loved a good misty, nasty day because I could snuggle up with a book and an apple and just be. There is no just “being” with a baby and a toddler… and when I try I end up with a messy house, soggy diapers, and crusty, tangled hair!
I’m so excited about Bradlee’s first birthday! We are in full planning/prepping mode. Those of you that visit my little space often know I love to plan a party (and if you don’t know but want to I invite you to check out Breakfast at Whitlee’s and our Frozen Luau). Of course, pictures of the birthday girl are a must and I collaborated with a local photographer last week for Bee’s 1 year old photos. If you are in the south I highly recommend getting to know Brandi at Roaming Photography (and lucky for you she’s really close if you are in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama!). Brandi is creative and so sweet- I’m super excited to share more about our photo session with you soon! I’m not ready to share all the details for the party yet but I will give you a sneak peek…
My Nose! My Nose!
Soooo, I shared a little about my really sick kids earlier in the week, but let’s just say we had a rough few days. My normally animated twonager spent a lot of time simply lifeless, curled up on the couch. She’s a pretty easy patient and takes her medicine without a fight. One of her prescribed treatments was to use a nebulizer. I wasn’t entirely sure how this would go but she LOVED it and named it her “nose” and spent lots of time asking, “Mama! I need Whit Whit’s nose” (and actually, Bradlee loved the wand nebulizer… especially the fact that I let her eat it!”)
Okay, not exactly. I was cooped up in the house all week with my family of sickies- no CrossFit, bible study, or small group. By Saturday I was feeling claustrophobic and hiding in my shower to cry out the frustration. Craig’s not big on dates (we have one a year on our anniversary) so I started looking for a friend to just sit with me somewhere (anywhere) other than my house… But it appears that I’m the only girl I know with no plans on a Saturday night so I asked Whitlee if she wanted to be my date and off we went. Much to her disappointment we went to a local cajun place because Mellow Mushroom (her request) had a 45 minute wait, but I made it up to her with a late night stop at Honeymoon Bakery and an impromptu photo session. I loved having a few special hours with my big girl. She is growing so fast, full of silly stories and bear hugs and it’s so rare that I get to spend 1:1 time with either of my Lees.
Can we just take a second to realize that this baby is going to be ONE YEAR OLD in less than a month? Thank goodness for a leap year, she actually gets to stay a “baby” for a whole extra day!
Oh Sunny Days!
Yes we are outside. Yes that is sunshine and even shadows! Praise the Lord- I thought the Earth was about to flood all over again. I joked when I moved to this town that we have a monsoon season and last week was one of those weeks. When I moved here I was coming from the deep south in drought season. My grandparents were digging a new well because theirs was dry and, only a few hours north, I was floating away and driving around flooded roads. So yeah, we get a lot of rain in these parts and kids in carseats + rain = BAD COMBINATION!
Everyone loves a little snail mail. My husband came home earlier this week, after a particularly long day for me, with a package in hand and asked what I had ordered. Confused, I opened the package to find yet another surprise from Chick-fil-A and the Honest Company in celebration of the Honest Company’s partnership with Chick-fil-A kids’ meals. I’m sure Craig will snatch my water bottle (much like he did the Mighty Mug), and the sticky ball game is right up the Lees’ alley- but I’m really going to fight for the bag. I’ve been needing a bag to tote my laptop and planner in and haven’t taken the time to find anything— but I have a feeling I’ll be fighting my twonager, the bag lady.
Now, on to the 100 Happy Days Link Up
I can’t believe we have been doing this link up for 20 weeks! I am still learning so much. Thank you so much for being a part of 100HD! We love reading your words- funny, inspirational, heartwarming, heartbroken- they are beautiful!
Behind the Link
Every few weeks, the 100 Happy Days ladies will choose a blogger who regularly links up to be featured in a special ‘Behind the Link‘ snippet! We will share the blog, a short Q&A with the blogger, and his or her social media links. We invite you to get to know some of your linkup buddies & to show some love by dropping in for a visit!
Our second Behind the Link feature is Cow Country Housewife, a blog written by Caroline! Check out this short Q&A about her blog.
I started blogging to find community and to share my experiences. Motherhood can be very isolating at times, so while I’m at home all day, I figured that I might as well meet other moms who are in the same boat! From there, my blog morphed into sharing how my husband and I have been able to save money and thrive on a low income. Plus, it’s been a lot of fun!
It actually started out as a joke between my college roommate and I. We were from Philadelphia and came out to the rural suburbs to attend college. We affectionately called it “cow country,” compared to where we were from. Now I’ve lived here for almost seven years and I still tell people from back home that I live in “cow country.”
Become part of a community while sharing life lessons from motherhood to saving money.
For now, my hobbies include taking care of my family and trying out things I’ve seen on Pinterest! I’ve got a minor Pinterest addiction and almost everything on Pinterest makes me think “that looks so easy! I bet even I could do it!” And, of course, it winds up being a disaster. But at least I tried, right?
Determined, loving, goofy, mild-perfectionist, passionate.
