Is it really time for another 100 Happy Days? This week has been a blur. Good and fun- but my memory is definitely hazy on exactly what we have done! Can I tell you a secret? These are the moments I am most thankful for our little 100 Happy Days Link Up. These days are crazy… really crazy! It would be so easy to become caught up in the hard side of it (and some days I do). Some days I forget to be joyful in motherhood. I forget to be thankful for the endless amount of happiness I gain from my little family. But before I know it Wednesday night has come back around and I sit down at my computer thinking, “Do I even have anything happy to share this week?”. I flip through pictures from the week and before I know it there are more happy moments than there were days since the last link party.
Oh! I almost forgot. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Last year I still looked forward to a New Year’s Eve celebration with friends… This year I am thinking I would be happy go to sleep around 9 and since we have no plans (and if I torture my kids and hold their eyelids open so they can’t nap) it may actually happen.
But before it gets too late tonight- here are my 100 Happy New Year Days from this week:
12 Days of Christmas Round 2
Remember last week I was excited to get the 12 Days WOD in? Well, I happened to join my best for CrossFit at her gym in our hometown and got to do their version of 12 Days. I should mention we are in the Deep South and it was 80* and humid which explains the fact we look like we’ve been swimming.
Merry Christmas from the Framily
This crew has been mine for many years…. Maybe 17? I forget the details. But our moms are best friends and we do holidays and vacations together. I love this little family extension. We are married and having babies and I’m pretty sure we haven’t all been in one room since my wedding so THIS was a feat worth capturing.
This crew right here- we are in for big trouble as they grow. They love each other so much and the mischief has already started.
Caroling for Cows
My Nonna loves to keep things fun! This year she put together a hayride and every. single. one. of us went! We sang a really poor rendition of The 12 Days of Christmas to the cows (my grandparents just may live in a very rural area so there were exactly 2 houses to carol at) and threw in Wagon Wheel per my nephews request (I mean, nothing says Merry Christmas like a “nice, long toke”!)
Technically this occurred on the hay ride but it is well-deserving of being its own happy day. Remember my favorite uncle? Well, if I didn’t already adore him, his relationship with this girl just makes me melt. I don’t know what it is about these two but they have such a special bond. Whitlee is thrilled every time he is around and we talk about him constantly.
Looks like he and Bradlee are pretty smitten with each other, too!
My hometown has A bar (as in one, single bar). If you are picturing something slightly akin to the Sweet Home Alabama “you have a baby in a bar” scene I would say you’re getting a pretty apt idea of what I’m throwing down. Anyways, my best called me a few weeks ago because one of her favorite up-and-comers was playing at The Gin (you guessed it- as in a Cotton Gin) and we HAD to be there. Since she drove 266 miles to have lunch with me I kinda owe her for life so off I went. Of course we had a blast because we were together… And we were kidless. Even better!
All our new toys!
If you’ve read my blog… ever… You know how I feel about engaging toys versus entertaining toys. I prefer materials that stimulate imagination as opposed to making it obsolete (as in it does not require imagination- not that it actually wipes your imagination away. I’m not that crazy!). Luckily my Whitlee seems to have no shortage of imagination. Today her new dollhouse served as her office (note the snacks and drink stored inside the house), and this “boutique” play tent was a doctors office so Lambie could have some privacy during her check-up.
Hopefully this smiley girl will get some of those imaginative juices, as well.
And now- it’s time for 100 Happy (New Year) Days!
